A new nonprofit organization aims to be a unifying voice in the home-based health care industry.
The Visiting Nurse Associations of America announced the launch of ElevatingHOME at a national conference April 19. Tracey Moorhead, CEO of VNAA, will also be CEO of the new 501(c)(6). The Council of State Home Care Associations has joined ElevatingHOME as a founding member.
Moorhead told Home Health Care News that providers recognized a big-picture approach is needed to make home-based services a first thought rather than an afterthought in the health care system.
"The solution for us is to encourage more care in the home," Moorhead said. "Why would we not start there? Instead of responding to little things, let's talk about the bigger picture system and where we fit."
ElevatingHOME will focus on advancing home-based care as a central component of the health care delivery system. Its mission includes demonstrating the value of home-based care and developing and promoting best practices for the industry. The new organization will represent both nonprofit and for-profit home health care agencies. http://bit.ly/2oOrPyQ
